Loet van der Lee was born in Bakkum, in the north of Holland on June 3, 1968. He started playing at the age of 10 and later studied jazz trumpet with Ack van Rooyen, Ruud Breuls, Bert Joris, classical trumpet with Wim van Vliet, and jazz theory with Rob Madna at the Hilversum Conservatory from 1987 through 1993. He has become a highly respected soloist as well as a much in demand section and lead trumpet in many different musical styles. Loet’s work on the international scene includes performances with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, the New Cool Collective Big Band, the Gerardo Rosales Latin Jazz Ensemble, Berend van den Berg’s Octet, the Say No More Brass Band and many others. The Loet van der Lee Quartet was founded in 1987 and have performed in several countries throughout the world. In 1996 their critically acclaimed debut CD ‘Going Walkabout’ was release on A-Records (AL73035).
